How to Buy Cheap Cars
Many people treat cars like a status symbol. We’ve all seen the stories about moguls with multi-story garages and huge luxury car collections. But for some people cheap cars are the way to go. Cheap in price doesn’t have to mean cheap in quality. Less expensive can still be functional, and even fun. Any car you choose, be sure to get a good car insurance.
One of the ways to obtain a quality car on the cheap is to purchase a used car. There a much less expensive top model cars, at least when compared to the new versions. A whole new term has emerged for higher quality used vehicles – pre-owned. Pre-owned cars have pulled some new car lovers into the used car world. Consider top model cars. Even after 10 years a well built Lexus can look and drive like new. A lot of people buy slightly used instead of new car after car.Remember the chauffeur in “Driving Miss Daisy”? He always bought Miss Daisy’s second hand, luxury cars.
There are also some nice, low cost new cars. The Hyundai Elantra is a quality car under $12,000. A well engineered car like the Honda Civic is only around $15K. They get great mileage, last a long time, and retain original value very well. Cheaper cars are also generally less costly to maintain, and they don’t require premium gasoline. If you are planning in getting professional car insurance advice, checkout the price, as car insurance rates are rising.
Another area to look is cheaper, if not really cheap, luxury cars. Audi makes luxury cars that compete with Mercedes and Lexus, but generally at the lower end of the price spread for like models. Audi boasts the top engineered cars in the world, bar none. The Audi TT can be just as much fun as a Porsche, but much less expensive.
Of course some people want cheap, cheaper, cheapest. They don’t care if the car is held together with chewing gum and wire. Teens often buy this style of car. It’s a set of wheels, and it gives them practice for a life time of practical mechanical knowledge. But watch out, the age old adage “You get what you pay for” applies to cheap cars too. A car that constantly breaks down is no bargain at any price.
