West Yorkshire is a remarkable part of Britain, and is part of Yorkshire which was divided up for local government into several areas some years ago, because Yorkshire is such a large county .
Even on its own West Yorkshire is an unusual county, consisting of five local areas, many towns, yet some beautiful countryside in between. The main cities in the area are:
Leeds, Bradford – which have an airport between them – Halifax, Huddersfield, Ilkley, Keighley and Wakefield.
