Stop Puppy Biting.

One of the first things you have to deal with as the owner of a new puppy is how to stop puppy from biting and nipping. Nearly all new puppies take part in this behaviour, which is hard wired to its brain, but as a family pet it is a behaviour that needs to be controlled. Fortunately there are various simple solutions to stop puppy biting behaviour and a sensible approach will have this potentially troublesome problem solved in a matter of days or for some puppies even a matter of hours. The advice and tips that follow are all positive ways to stop your puppy biting, however, without a consistent approach they will work no better than doing nothing, in fact it may be worse. Everyone who has contact with the new puppy should be aware of how to deal with bites, this includes the children, there should be no time that the rules don’t apply. Consistency and a sensible puppy will ensure success in a very short period of time, less than a day is possible.

Let puppy know.
When puppies play and one bites the other too hard the bitten one will let out a yelp and stop playing for a minute, the offender immediately backs away knowing they have done wrong, after a few moments play begins again, we should mimic this by giving a loud Ouch when bitten and immediately stop playing, your puppy immediately understands this is a bad thing and will try to make friends again. Do not hold a grudge, after a short time when puppy has realised you should make up by continuing play, but repeat it every time, consistently applied this will stop your puppy biting quickly and painlessly to every ones benefit.
