THE ART OF RESUME WRITING

First Impression is the Best Impression – RESUME WRITING – The First impression is the best and lasting impression. Also the first 2 minutes of either the selector reading your resume or at the time of your interview will decide whether you will get the job or not. Potential employers see the quality of your bio-data first and then call you for the interview. Therefore your bio-data should be presented in a neat, attractive and easy-to-read format to reflect some of your characteristics.

POINTS TO REMEMBER – Remember that all bio-data that have a professional page-format with border; attractive fonts and typeset (with italics, underline, bold etc.) have the potential to impress. How many well-qualified and experienced candidates have lost good opportunities simply because of the poor quality of their bio-data sent for a prospective job? In many countries, there are companies whose main business is to prepare professional bio-data for its job seekers.

Improve the look of your bio-data by printing it on a laser printer, and always attach a smart color photograph, preferably wearing a suit and tie (if you are a guy!!). It is recommended that you present a clear and typed letter for the job you are applying. This should be brief and be of just one page with basic but important details pertaining to the job advertised and being sought. In this letter you should mention your aptitude and suitability to take the job: perhaps, you should mention qualities and abilities that you think the potential employer might be interested in knowing. HOMEWORK – Doing some homework is very important. You have to learn more about the Company (through websites, brochures and other contacts) and prepare your pep talk about how you will serve the company, in case of your selection.
